Prayers for my (future) husband

For my future husband ❤

I have a small prayer list that I’ve come up with. I’ll will be adding more in the future.

1.) Pray that he will continue to grow and change more and more into the image of Christ.
“For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate [to be] conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.” -Romans 8:29 {KJV}

2.) Pray that YOU will constantly be growing and sanctified into the beautiful help mate he needs.
“Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good, so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored.” -Titus 2:3-5 {NASB}

3.) Pray that the Gospel will impact him not only in salvation but also in every area of his life.
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, ” BUT THE RIGHTEOUS man SHALL LIVE BY FAITH.” -Romans 1:16-17

4.) Pray that He will be strong in the Lord and fight against the Lust of the flesh, guarding his purity.
“No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.” -1 Corinthians 10:13

5.) Pray that he will own the truth that, real strength is controlled strength: meekness, gentleness and Spirit-filled Boldness.
“but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence; and keep a good conscience so that in the thing in which you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ will be put to shame.” -1 Peter 3:15-16

6.) Pray that self-control would dominate His life.
“A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls.” -Proverbs 25:28 {ESV}

7.) Pray that He would have a hunger for knowledge and wisdom.
“How much better to get wisdom than gold! To get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.” -Proverbs 16:16

8.) Pray for spiritual and practical maturity well beyond his years.
“But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.” -James 3:17 {ESV}

9.) Pray that good, strong servant-leadership skills would be cultivated in his heart.
“For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body……Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her” -Ephesians 5 {NASB}

10.) Pray for the Lord’s sovereign protection in his life.
“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the LORD, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” -Psalm 91:1-2 {NASB}

11.) Pray that he would have direction and that he would prepare for the future.
“But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” -James 1:5 {NASB}

12.) Pray that he would have a heart of forgiveness and that forgiveness would be granted to him.
“Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” -Ephesians 4:32 {NASB}

after His Heart

“She knew it was important to cease her busyness, stop all activity, and set aside secondary things in order to focus wholly on the Lord. Unlike her sister, who was so busy doing things for the Lord that she failed to spend time with Him, Mary put worship at the top of her to-do list.”

Have you ever read a book over and over again and each time it speaks to you differently? (well, besides the Bible) This amazing book from Elizabeth Elliot, “A Woman After God’s Own Heart.” I first found it seven years ago when I first came to the Lord. I got so many books about Jesus, His love, Women in the Bible. I just wanted to soak everything about Him! I highly recommend this book!

It has been awhile since I have posted and that is mainly due to two reasons. 1-I haven’t disciplined myself to do so and 2- I have fallen away from doing my devotions/studies. Hoping this will begin to change starting today. I know we all as Christians daily struggle to do the Lords will and not our own. It is His will that I spend time in His Word and in prayer daily. This blog helps me to remember what I’m learning in my studies. If you write it down it stays with you better, right? I ask Jesus a year ago that this is His Blog and not mine, and as long as He continues to pour His Grace, His Love and His forgiveness in my heart and in my life that I will be sharing them with you all.

Sometimes we just have to be a Mary and sit at the feet of our Jesus. To take all of our worries and concerns to Him. He will comfort us like no one else would. I am will be blogging more about this amazing book and I am truly excited on this season the Lord has me on. I will leave you with this though, searching and seeking after His heart wont make your life easier or all your dreams and wishes will come true, BUT your life will never be the same again. The Creator of the Universe loves YOU. How amazing is that? No better feeling ever. Prayer request? Email me at Praying for all of you! Love u guys! ❤❤

What’s your fruit?

I’ve been rather sick lately 😦 I usually don’t get sick, but when I do it last awhile. It’s almost gone, I just have this ugly cough. I have been eating lots of fruit lately. When I’m sick I don’t really have much of an appetite. So I figured at least fruit fills me up and it’s good for me. Then it got me thinking about the fruit of the Spirit. The “fruit” of the Holy Spirit refers to the godly attributes of those who “walk in the Spirit”.

In my Women’s Study Bible it says, “The fruit of the Holy Spirit affects the believer’s relationship with God, others, and self.” The more we take the time and the effort to read God’s word and have that relationship with Jesus we will mature spiritually. See we cant tell others about the Love that Jesus has for us every single minute. But we can show them. Our actions speak a lot louder than our words. God has changed us. We are no longer the same. Having Love, Joy, Peace, Long suffering, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-Control. All of this shows others that we have been transformed. Thank you Jesus for that!

day off, new readings, and the things i enjoy

Today I woke up feeling refreshed and in such a great mood. Maybe it’s because this semester is coming to end in like a month! Or because I had such a lovely lunch yesterday with my friends that I have not seen in a while. And most important, I have the evening off today! YAY 🙂 I just have two classes this morning and I don’t have to rush and go to work. So, this means I have that much more time to read, this awesome book I started last night. ‘Cold Tangerines’ Celebrating the extraordinary nature of everyday life by Shauna Niequist. I seriously love the way she writes. I finished her other book, ‘Bittersweet’ over the weekend and it was as if I was there with her sharing her life. I read, soaking up Niequist’s simple wisdom and beautiful memories. She spoke to me, and I felt more serene with each page. This is why I LOVE to read. I can escape and be somewhere else. For that hour or two I don’t have a care in the world when I am reading. This is why, I think it is so important to teach kids when they are young to read. To turn off the computer and the tv and just read. Reading with them is awesome. I love to see that. Makes my heart happy. I totally recommend either of these books, or both!

awesome book!

another awesome book!

I have a craving for the little things that make me smile. After everything that goes on in any particular day either at work or at school; I need that time, that minute that makes me smile. I walked into Starbucks the other evening when I was working late and I looked up at the menu. If you know me, you know I usually order the same thing when I am there. Grande ice-coffee unsweeten with half and half and a splash of sugar free vanilla please. So, when I ordered that tall white chocolate peppermint mocha with extra foam. It felt like everything had stopped and then they were looking at me.

I am serious. Even the barista that knows me by name. He looked totally shocked! It felt great to order something different and let me tell you this picture does no justice it was soooo GOOD!

One of the other reasons why I woke up feeling so refreshed was because I had me a spa day this past Friday. It was so nice and relaxing. It was my friend’s birthday and she wanted to spend to day at the spa. This spa in particular is the Glen Ivy Hot Springs and you don’t even have to get a massage if you don’t want to. They have a couple of large pools and a some small ones that let you just float around and soak in the beautiful California rays. That day was really nice too. It was warm enough to take a swim, but in the shade you can feel a breeze and it would get a little chilly. It was just lovely. Jesus really blessed our day. Here are a few pics that I took, it was later on because I actually left my phone in the locker so I can truly relax. I took the pictures right when we were leaving.

spa day!

the best. day. ever.

I am really enjoying this season I am in right now. Jesus puts a smile on my face. Today and everyday. “In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18

Surrender, Faith, and Trust

I have been thinking about this one particular word lately, surrender. What does that really mean? Wikipedia defines it as, “spirituality and religion means that a believer completely gives up his own will and subjects his thoughts, ideas, and deeds to the will and teachings of a higher power..” So when I pray and ask God to take away this stress about school or if bills are going to get paid this month, when I say to Him that I will surrender ALL to Him. Is this what I am really doing?

surrender it ALL!

I have this thing that if I am not doing something about something it won’t get done right. I was never like this, until I reached management a few years ago at my job. This is why at work, it gets hard for me to delegate to others what needs to be done. I have gotten much better, but at times I do come home beat because I, in the end did all the work or finished it for others.

This is my issue now. I say that I will surrender everything to God. But then, I am still stressing about my school, work and family issues and about anything else. It has to do with two very important things that I am still learning to do.

have a little Faith

Trust that He will do the work and have Faith that it will happen.

trust with ALL your heart

This is where that worn out light brown little book that I have caring around my purse for five years now, has helped me a great deal. My Bible. In it, there are tons of scriptures about men and women that have this amazing strong Faith and many that don’t. In the New Testament the  disciples said to Jesus, “Lord, Increase my Faith.” Luke 17 When I read this it makes my heart rejoice! Because I am not alone. Many have fought, struggled and ALL have had to surrender it all to God. I am learning this every single day. I thank God that He is the one teaching me how to surrender everything to Him. For His will and not mine.

“And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little Faith, why did you dought.” Matthew 14:31

“And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” Matthew 22:37

“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, also believe in Me.” John 14:1
